  • How do I register for a program?
Go to the Registration page for a list of current programs and register for the desired program.

  • What is the US Lacrosse Membership?
To ensure all players and coaches have insurance coverage, Pittsford Community Lacrosse requires all youth players to obtain a valid US Lacrosse membership in order to register for play in any programs. Membership in US Lacrosse is required to be in effect by the participant for the entire lacrosse season. No one without a valid US Lacrosse membership will be allowed to participate in any of the Pittsford Community Lacrosse programs. Pittsford Lacrosse youth coaches are required to obtain membership in US Lacrosse. Registration for our coaches is monitored by the board and initiated throughout the year as our programs are deployed.

  • How do I obtain US Lacrosse Membership?
All Pittsford Lacrosse programs require registration through our website. The registration process automatically prompts each player to provide proof of membership with US Lacrosse. If a player does not have a valid US Lacrosse membership at the time of registration, the website will automatically prompt the registrant to obtain a valid US Lacrosse membership before continuing the registration process. Click Here To Obtain/Renew US Lacrosse Membership

  • How is the money from the registration fees used?
Registration fees are used to cover the following: Referee Costs, Consumables: Balls (we go through a lot of lacrosse balls) Lacrosse Nets, Medical Kits, Tournament fees, US Lacrosse Coach Registration, League Fees, Lining Fields, Lacrosse Goals, Goalie Equipment (we supply goalie equipment for each team), Web Fees, postal fees, etc.

  • What about "rain-outs" or cancelations?
Lacrosse is an all weather sport. Lightning will stop play! It is important to understand that the sound of thunder or the sight of lightning puts an automatic stop to practice or a game. Each time lighting is seen or thunder is heard, coaches must wait another 30 minutes before a game or practice may restart! Lacrosse is traditionally played under fairly poor conditions including rain, cold, snow, and wind so be prepared. Heat index is another important weather concern. Coaches will be notified if the heat index is too high or fields are unplayable due to the weather. Safety is extremely important when it comes to our players.

  • Can my child "Play-up" a level?
Pittsford Lacrosse discourages playing up. All children must register at their proper grade level. No exceptions. Some children mature faster and others just pick up the required skills quicker. This is most evident at the Grade 1/2 level where passing and catching often elude the majority of the players. Parents of a player who has mastered these fundamental skills can often feel frustrated. It is important to remember that one of the most important lessons a child can learn is "to make their teammates better". In addition, being a leader on the field and/or "the best player" is something that should not be overlooked. More often than not, the child who is the superstar at 8 years old is often not the best player at 12 years old. As players progress and move up subsequent levels, the size, speed, and intensity increase. There is a significant difference in the skills of the players from 1/2 to 3/4 but the largest leap comes when moving to 5/6. The field nearly doubles in size and physical contact is allowed. The size difference between a 9 or 10 year old 4th grader and a 6th grader (who may be entering puberty) can be significant. More than one child has given up the game of lacrosse after receiving their first big hit. We don't want a child to lose their love of lacrosse because they are put in such a position.
