5/6 News - Thursday, May 13th
by posted 05/13/2021

Good afternoon!

We had a good first week of practices at Barker Road despite some chilly air and muddy feet!

We have 1 game this Saturday against Canandaigua!

Location:   Canandaigua Middle School on 215 Granger Street, Canandaigua, NY 14424 .

We will be on the field closest to the tennis courts.

Parking:     Please park on Granger Street.

Our game starts at 9am so please have your girls there by 8:30am sharp for warm-ups! For now, it looks like 57 degrees and sunny at first draw! Please have your daughters wear layers if you can convince them to (I give up with my daughter) and have them bring a jacket or blanket for the side lines, water, mouthguard, goggles or helmet and stick! 2 spectators suggested per player and masks required for all. Please RSVP on the app by the end of the day today if you haven't already.

Our spring season will be extended by 1 week to play Brighton on June 5th. We should be maintaining the same practice schedule with the exception of the Memorial Day holiday.

We'll see you bright and early on Saturday!

Registration Up: Irondequoit Invitational
by posted 05/12/2021

Good afternoon 5/6 parents,

Registration for the Irondequoit Invitational on Sunday, June 13th is up on the Registration page of our website. If you are interested in registering your daughter for the tournament, please register as soon as possible. Ideally we need 18 - 20 girls for this tournament. I may cap it at 20 to ensure all players get adequate playing time. The cost is $25 and more information is available on our registration page. The timing of the tournament day has not been released yet, but I have an email in to the organizer for more information. We will be practicing the week before the tournament, most likely at our regularly scheduled practice times/days. Coach Hailey will be staying on with us through the tournament.

See you at 6:45pm at Barker for practice!

PRACTICE TONIGHT: Additional Barker Road Info
by posted 05/10/2021

Please encourage your daughter to use the restroom before coming to practice. Apparently, we don't have access to the bathrooms inside the middle school and will have to use the bathrooms at neighboring Hopkins Park or Thornell Farm Park.

It can get windy on the upper fields so it would be smart to have your daughter dress in layers and bring a jacket! Hopefully, it will warm up soon.

We are on fields 1 & 2.

Again, we're at 7pm tonight and will start at 6:45pm starting this Wednesday!

REMINDER: Practice Tonight - 7pm Barker Road Middle School
by posted 05/10/2021

Good Morning and Happy Mother's Day yesterday to our 5/6 moms!

Just a reminder that practice tonight is at Barker Road Middle School from 7pm - 8pm. We'll be on the 2 large fields to the right of the school.

There is consensus among the coaches that we could use a bit more practice time, so starting this Wednesday, May 12th, we'd like to start practice at 6:45pm Mondays and Wednesdays to get 30 minutes in more per week. Don't stress if this doesn't work for your family, as we'll be using the extra time to get warm-up passing (and chatting) out of the way so that we can dive-in to active practice at 7pm. Our 1 hour practices fly and we don't want to short-change our girls.

Feel free to reach out to me with any questions. I'll be in touch in a few days about our game this Saturday against Canandaigua.

See you tonight!

5/6 News - Friday, May 7
by posted 05/07/2021

Hello 5/6 crew,

I want to follow-up on my email re: summer tournaments. My goal is for our girls to have the experience of at least 1 tournament together since our usual local, in-season tournaments were cancelled this year. The most accessible and closest to season end is the Irondequoit Invitational which will be held on Sunday, June 13th. The other ones I've looked into may overlap club tournament season. I'm not counting them out completely, but if we can get at least 15 girls on board for the Irondequoit tournament, it would be awesome. Registration isn't out but I've notified them of our interest. I already have 8 girls who've expressed interest. If you haven't already emailed me and think the 13th might work for your daughter, please email me and let me know.

In other *in season* news, Brighton has requested a game day with us on Saturday, June 5th. We were set to end the season in May, but this game would be an extension of our normal season with no added fees, etc. I don't have exact times but it's looking like late morning/mid-day for 2 back to back games. Please email me if your daughter is able to attend this game so I can have an idea of head count.

Tomorrow looks cold and rainy again (yay) so please have your girls layer and bring a rain coat for the sidelines. I'll reach out or you will receive a notification of any cancellations due to weather, otherwise, please assume we are on and have your daughter at the field at 9am for warm-ups.

Enjoy your Friday night,

Coach Liv

RSVP: 5/6 Pittsford Girls Lacrosse Game Against Penfield
by posted 05/06/2021

Happy Thursday!

Saturday we play Penfield at 9:30am and 10:30am. Please have your daughter on the field by 9am with masks, water bottles, and all equiptment. Please RSVP on the app if you haven't already.

Details from the Penfield coach:

Location: Rothfuss Park

1648 Five Mile Line Road, Penfield, NY 14526

Parking: When you pull into Rothfuss Park, there is a parking lot on the right. I would park there. The 5/6 field is just to the left of that. If you veer left when you pull in, you'll be driving parallel to the sideline of our field. There are a couple of small lots that way as well. If you get to the big red barn (where the bathrooms are), that's probably too far. The lot near the barn is where the 1/2s and 3/4s will park.
Covid protocols: Everyone is masked throughout, coaches, spectators and players. They're saying 2 spectators per player.

There are bathrooms close to the field! Yay!

We've had some great learning experiences both on and off the field already and it's been fun getting to know your daughters! Unfortunately, our season is short and will fly by! If you think your daughter might be interested in playing in a local tournament in June, please let me know via email. Tournament participation will be outside of the normal spring season and at an additional cost. I just want to get a general idea of interest. Most tournaments are on Sundays and within an hour or so drive from Pittsford.

Enjoy the sunshine today,

Coach Liv

Pittsford Girls Youth Teams:

Be sure to follow the Pittsford Girls Varsity team on Twitter (@PLaxGirls). They are off to a great start on the season (2-0). Unfortunately, due to COVID, we are not having our usual Big Sister/Little Sister program, but we can still stay connected with them.

Also, you will see updates on Pittsford alumnae who are having much success in college. All of these young women started their lacrosse careers in the same program that you are in now. They all worked hard on the field, in school, and in the community. As a result, they have had many fantastic opportunities after high school.

I have been around long enough to have seen the college players when they were in the youth program, and I can say that they were just like the current players. Most of them played multiple sports (soccer, basketball, field hockey, etc.) and participated in multiple activities (Girl Scouts, music, drama, dance, etc.).

So just have fun, play hard, study hard, do good in the community, and I'm confident that plenty of opportunities will be available for you, too.

Good morning and happy Monday!

The sun is shining as of now, but that doesn't mean we will 100% be playing our game against Fairport tonight. Please keep an eye out for another email from me this afternoon in case we have to reschedule due to weather or field closures.

Game time tonight is 6pm, please have your girls there by 5:30pm. Spectators should be kept to a minimum and masked.

The field address is Center Park West #2 is 1350 Turk Hill Rd, Fairport, NY 14450 behind the Perinton Rec Center. The parking lot is off Ayrault Road and you'll have to park and walk to Center Park West #2 (near the pavilion/playground).

**IF our game is again postponed, we will be practicing at The Athletic Campus tonight from 7pm - 8pm**

Wednesday, our practice has been changed to The Athletic Campus from 7pm - 8pm.

Mike Cross moved all Pittsford practices indoors this week due to the dreary weather forecast. I'm hoping that next week we will be outside at Barker Road Middle School (another field change...I know) from 7pm - 8pm on Mondays.

No matter where we are tonight, I will have the uniforms for the girls who were not at our game on Saturday.

Watch out for an email from Christi Civalier (Porsha and Quinn's mom), who will be sending out an email for game-day snack sign-up.

I'm so proud of our girls and can't wait for another great week of lacrosse!!!

Welcome to Pittsford Girls Lacrosse for 5th/6th Grades!
by posted 03/22/2021

Welcome to the spring season for Pittsford Girls Lacrosse for 5th/6th Grades! We are looking forward to a fantastic season!

All details for the season, including the schedule, are on our website under the Girls Youth tab. Here's a direct link to the page specifically for this age group. Be sure to bookmark the link for easy access: http://LeagueAthletics.com/Page.asp?n=107844&org=pittsfordlacrosse.org

We start on Thursday, April 8. All practices in April are indoors at The Athletic Campus (3195 Brighton Henrietta Town Line Rd, Rochester, NY 14623) in the field house in the rear of the building.

Starting in May, we expect to be outside on Mondays and Wednesdays, but the location is to be determined. We will send an update once we know more.

Note that practice days and times are different in April and May.

We encourage you to attend as many practices as possible, but we know families are busy and sometimes there are conflicts. It's absolutely fine to miss a practice, so don't stress too much about it.

Your daughter must have a stick, goggles or helmet, and a mouthguard. Please reply to this email if you have questions about equipment.

Feel free to contact me with any questions about the program.

Enjoy your spring break and be ready to play in April!

Go Pittsford!
